Maricarmen Hillmer, Lorie Naylor, Anna Slatten, and Norinne Lothian performed very colorful dances including Chiapanecas and Rascapetate. Christina Sun was fabulous in performing the Mongolian solo. Celeste Feng, Rong Li, and Angel Ho entertained the audience by their Erhu playing/dancing, and people really enjoyed Tai Chi by John Li. Children enjoyed a variety of colouring and crafts. Info Sessions for Computer Specialists Set ISS of BC is offering a no-cost exciting soft skills program aimed specifically at immigrant IT professionals. Advanced Literacy and Essential Skills in the Workplace Program (ALES@work) is tailored so that IT professionals can communicate their unique ideas clearly, give and receive constructive feedback on a team or when dealing with clients or supervisors, network within the IT community, and gain the confidence to shine in the Canadian work environment. Their clients are getting hired, retaining their positions, and advancing in their careers. Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada, it focuses on three essential skills: oral and written communication and critical thinking. Participants have opportunities to connect with employers through our employment specialist, events and guest speakers as well as meet others in tech. Satisfaction with the training has been 100%. The next class in Vancouver will run from April 2nd to June 13th, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6 to 9 pm. Classes take place at ISS of BC at 333 Terminal Ave, Vancouver, BC. Programmers/Software Developers, Database Analysts/Data Administrators, and Network Technicians/System Administrators are welcome to attend one of our information sessions. Participants can be unemployed or employed. Because this is an advanced level communication class, their English level should be a minimum of CLB 7 or IELTS 6. Information Sessions will be held as follows: February 19th (Tuesday) - 7 pm - 8 pm Online February 28th (Thursday) - 5:30 - 6:30 pm February 13th (Wed) - 12:30 - 1:30 pm March 6th (Wednesday) - 12:30 - 1:30 pm Info Session Location will be on the 6th floor of 333 Terminal (2 blocks from the Main Street Skytrain).
