so is Fil Co-operative One Housing
Society’s membership recruitment
campaign. Sa July 14, 2018, sisimulan
sa Vancouver ang series of orientation

miyembro ng One Housing Society.
Ito ay susundan ng orientation for
members sa Richmond at Surrey sa
mga darating na buwan.
Ang One Housing Society (OHS)
ay ang affordable housing initiative
ng One Filipino Cooperative of BC
(FilCo-opBC) bilang tugon sa housing
crisis sa Metro Vancouver. Ito ay
isang non-profit housing association
na rehistrado sa BC Registry noong

Ang vision ng OHS ay maging

Just very recently came back from
our annual sojourn in Hawaii. Friends
and family often wonder if we ever
get tired of the place, which I always
promptly respond with a no - well, not
yet. I’ve written several articles about
it in the past and always get excited
sharing our escapades and adventures
in this island paradise – which basically
is doing nothing but walk around and
lazy-up wherever our feet takes us
to. Close associates at work made
me some sort of a “Hawaii de-facto
expert” that colleagues who are in the
planning stages of a vacation are often
referred to me. And I appreciate the
fact that most of the time they take my
word for it.
I’m often asked what’s the best
time of the year to visit. I often respond
it depends on what kind of weather
they want. There are times we come

A dying culture?
in spring and at other times in fall. For
me any time of the year is always the
best time, but we often try to come on
the first week of June.
Weather-wise it’s not really the
best time since June is the official start
of the hurricane season in Hawaii. But
if you’ve been there you will know that
hurricanes in Hawaii really is a big joke
- it drizzles for like fifteen minutes then
the sun resumes and it’s paradise the
whole day again.
We try to come every first week
of June to catch a great event – the
Pan Pacific Festival – where we get to
experience a long weekend of diverse
Asian cultural activities. Groups from
different Asian countries and from
some U.S. cities
