PHILIPPINE ASIAN NEWS TODAY
Top local TV series according to Twitter Philippines
It’s not that bad to keep track on
what’s happening on the local televi-
sion scene. Sure, there’s an avalanche
of ridiculously good Western television
series and Asian drama to watch out
for and binge-watch but nothing really
beats the stories that are too close to
our hearts and experience.
Romance, comedy, fantasy, dra-
ma—you name it, they got it. In this
respect, let’s take a quick rundown of
the most talked-about series on social
media according to Twitter Philippines
Entertainment Index for the first quar-
ter of 2018.
La Luna Sangre
As this Horror-fantasy drama se-
ries ended last March 2, it has main-
tained its record of being one of the
top trending topics in the Philippines
garnering 28.8 million tweets since its
premiere in June 2017 and 1.4 mil-
lion related tweets on its finale that
carried the hashtag #LaLunaTheFi-
nalBattle. Fans did not fail to express
their thoughts on La Luna Sangre
episodes and sadness towards the
show’s finale.
After many plot twists, Lily Cruz came
to realize that justice and not revenge
is the ultimate answer.
Kambal, Karibal
Bagani
Despite having many controver-
sies before its debut, Bagani instantly
became one of the most talked-about
fantasy series inspired by the Filipino
indigenous culture of warriors in the
fantasy world of Sansinukob. One
of the hottest love teams, #LizQuen
with Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil
play the lead roles as “Ganda” and
“Lakas.”
This teleserye has captured the
interest of viewers with its twist of dra-
ma and a story about sibling rivalry in
a supernatural way. Kambal Karibal
features the hottest love team of GMA,
21
Bianca Uma, i and Miguel Tanfelix or
#BiGuel, together with new breed of
talents Kyline Alcantara and Pauline
Mendoza.
Sherlock Jr.
A drama-crime series proved
how a dog really is the man’s best
friend. Sherlock Jr. aired Jan. 29 to
April 27 on GMA Network Telebabad.
Siri (voiceover by Mikee Quintos), the
Wonder dog, had left a wonderful
memory of being Jack’s (Ruru Ma-
drid) companion in investigating the
case of Jack’s girlfriend, Irene (Janine
Gutierrez) with his friend Lily (Gabbi
Garcia).(Nickie Wang,MS)
