Fort. She hosted the
core group of our Bulong
Pulungan media forum
at a delicious lunch in
their hotel’s Benjurong.
It was also a reunion with
Cynthia Esteban, formerly
events manager of our
regular host hotel, Sofitel.
She will be executive
assistant manager in the
project.
Evelyn is a top-
notch banker and Ten
Outstanding Women of
the Philippines awardee
and is president and vice
chairman of Philippine
Hoteliers, Inc., the company behind Dusit
Thani. She is excited over this newest
venture that is fully accredited by CHED.
She promises an educational hospitality
center, “several notches above the field
today!” Young Filipinos wanting to be in
the hospitality management industry will
have bright prospects after training in the
Dusit center, she stressed.
The Bachelor of Science Degree
in Hospitality Management is certified
by world-renowned, Switzerland-based
École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), and
will offer a range of culinary programs
certified by France’s renowned Institut
Paul Bocuse.
Fully accredited by EHL, the
four-year Bachelor’s degree program
follows the standards of the CHED and
comprises an active learning approach
hinged on group work, case studies, and
experimentation both on and off campus
and during internships.
In partnership with Institut Paul
Bocuse, meanwhile, DHMC offers a
series of executive programs under its
Professional Advancement Center. These
include Culinary Arts for Professionals,
Pastry for Professionals, and Restaurant
Management, among others.
Housed in the first nine floors of
the nearly completed DusitD2 the Fort,
DHMC will be the first college in the
Asia Pacific region to provide a fully
integrated learning and hands-on training
experience. The college and hotel will
offer international hospitality education
facilities including practical kitchens,
restaurants, function rooms, recreational
facilities including a swimming pool and
fitness centre, 125 guest rooms, and 108
serviced residences.
Bringing hospitality and culinary
instruction into the digital age, DHMC
promises students a technology-enabled
learning environment complete with
extensive
hospitality
management
resources to transform them into globally
competitive hospitality and culinary
professionals.
“Our partnership with two of the
world leaders in hospitality management
and culinary education, and the full
integration of our college and hotel, give
our students what we like to refer to as
“Beyond Education,’” said Lars Eltvik,
managing director, DHMC and DusitD2
the Fort, Manila.
“During their time at the college,
our students will actually put theory into
practice by working in the hotel alongside
experienced hoteliers and restaurateurs.
This
hands-on
work
experience,
combined with the certification the
students receive from École hôtelière de
Lausanne or Institut Paul Bocuse, will
ensure they are fully qualified to embark
on international professional careers.”
Chef Cyrill Soernen, director of
DHMC’s culinary arts is the only Master
Chef in the country. He has been here
for 25 years and is happily married.
