UGNAYAN SA CANADA
Filipino permanent migrants, it is the sec-
ond preferred major destination country
(next to United States of America) mainly
because of its extensive economic oppor-
tunities and inclusive social services based
on the latest reports of the Department of
Foreign Affairs and the Commission on
Filipinos Overseas. It is also ranked #9
in the UN’s 2015 Annual Human Devel-
opment Index (HDI), out of nearly 200
countries, making it an ideal country to
live in. Canada offers great promise to a
wide variety of Filipino jobseekers who in
time eventually earn the right to live on its
land as citizens. Since it is a vast coun-
try, 33 times the size of the Philippines
with lesser population, Canada’s need for
extra manpower and immigrants is more
pronounced than other countries.
According to the 2016 Census of Can-
ada Population Report, there are 837,130
