gone Above and Beyond
Making a
difference
on
the frontlines of
the overdose cri-

guiding young
people through
the
transition
from pediatric
to adult services

the accomplish-
ments that were
highlighted to-

Above and Be-
yond Awards,
an annual cer-
emony that rec-
ognizes Fraser
Health employ-
ees who have
made exempla-
ry contributions
to health care
in the region.
“Our public health care sys-

people who work in it ev-

patients, but also bringing
new ideas and innovation
to health-care delivery,” said
Minister of Health Adrian
Dix. “This allows us to bet-

Fraser Health has acknowl-

truly embrace this spirit. I
congratulate all the people
who won and applaud those
that were nominated for

by Fraser Health employ-

LBC brings Holiday Cheers to Overseas Filipinos as BOC
suspends Tariff ùact on Balikbayan Boxes
LBC’s
customers
abroad who are now busy
filling up Balikbayan boxes
to send to their loved ones
here in the country will now
be able to do so without wor-
rying about the rules and
regulations imposed by the
Bureau of Customs last Au-
gust 1, 2017
This is after BOC Com-
missioner Isidro Lapena is-
sued a memorandum last
September 28, 2017 sus-
pending the implementation
of the Customs Moderniza-
tion Tariff Act (CMTA) until
March 31, 2018.
The CMTA carried with
it certain provisions which
set parameters for Balikbay-
an shipments and who was
qualified to send them so
they can avail of tax exemp-
tions.
Because of the suspen-
sion, there is no more need
for Overseas Filipinos (OFs)
to submit documents like
information sheet; a photo-
copy of the passport; and,
invoice or proof of purchase
of items to be sent thru the
Balikbayan Box. There is
also no need to fill up Cus-
toms’ forms detailing the
gifts to be sent. There is also
no more limit to the number
of times an OF can send a
Balikbayan Box and there is
no more cap or maximum
amount than each box can
carry.
And the better news is,
the P150,000 duty and tax-
free privelege on the Balik-
bayan Box remains!
LBC, the largest and
leading forwarding company
in the Philippines, welcomed
the development saying
many Overseas Filipinos are
still unaccustomed to the
CMTA and that the suspen-
sion will give them time to fo-
cus, instead, on sending joy
and gifts to loved ones this
Holiday Season.
