Around 88 golfers participated and dozens more attended the Awards Night Dinner. The tournament was held to raise funds for upcoming PCTC Projects and also to contribute to ANCOP, a charity that provides housing, education and humanitarian assistance to the Philippines. The event was staged under excellent weather. Days previously, the weather had been dreary. The course was also dubbed by the players to be in its finest form ever. These factors, as well as the many prizes and gifts given away, the generous buffet and the camaraderie, provided so much enjoyment and pleasure both to the players and the sponsors. The Head of the Golf Project Committee, Jun Lagman, surprised the assembled participants by referring to this Golf Tournament as the Autumn Serenade, Part 2. This harkens back to a very successful PCTC project held 2 years ago, the original Autumn Serenade, which featured both Filipino and Canadian singers, musicians and dancers in a grand formal event. The PCTC use that to demonstrate the heights of harmony and beautyattainable by a close and intense Philippines- Canada cooperation. Lagman, who also headed that first serenade, insists that this golf tournament is also a serenade, but with a different tune. He justified this by saying that to Filipinos, a serenade isn’t just entertainment but a courtship ritual and that the PCTC is doing just that. The PCTC is wooing the guests to be married to their causes and values. It wants to embark with them towards an adventure of promoting vigorous trade between Philippines and Canada. It seeks partners in empowering the Filipino immigrants by coaching them to be entrepreneurs or facilitate their Canadian accreditation in the trades or professions for which they prepared for. The PCTC also suggested that the honeymoon can be in a Philippine Cultural Centre that can be made a reality next year. The center is envisioned as a unifying place where Philippine culture and industry is showcased, a Organizers: Jun Lagman, Lawrence Yang, Jun Lagman, Ira Lucas, Mary Anne Velayo and Team Scramble Champion: Chris Loredo, Kurt Louie, Leonard Fong & Mike Reyes Organizers, Jun Lagman, Rob Cordero, Ira Lucas, Lawrence Yang and Men’s Low Gross - Benedict Loa – Runner-up Organizers; Rob Cordero Lawrence Yang, , Jun Lagman, Ira Lucas, Men’s Low Net Runner up Ferdie Lontok WWW.PHILIPPINEASIANNEWSTODAY.COM Head of the Golf Project Comm Committee members are, Law Velayo,(far right) Ray Lino,(2nd Director Dodie Lucas.(2nd from Men’s Low Gross - Champion M Runner up team: Miles Neron Rey Fortaleza, (Photo c
