Brother-sister tandem to compete in Pan-Am Games

Aires , Argentina . Big brother Rhemwell and younger sibling Amelie is proud to represent Canada at the Junior Pan-American Championships s c h e d u l e d August 23-25 . The16-year old lad has been practicing Karate since he was 10 and admitted that this sport taught him many life skills , as well as personal development . Rhemwell has competed in the Provincial and National competitions and recently begun competing internationally . From a pure spectator in the previous editions of Pan-Am Games , Rhemwell quickly turned into an actual competitor due to inspired talent of the athletes he was watching . “ I envisioned myself to be a part of that experience and to standing on top the podium with a gold medal around my neck , “ says Rhemwell . Tucked under his belt is a bronze medal in the 16-17 Boy ’ s 61 kg Kumite ( sparring division ) in the National Championship held this year in Quebec . With a combination of hard work and dedication , Rhemwell is slowly sowing the seeds of success after he was selected to be a part of the national team to Buenos Aires Pan -Am Games this year . When it comes to Amelie , she already proved herself in the past competitions , landing in the top three spots at a very young age . She vows to surpass her performance in this tournament to make her family proud . But in order to reach their

‘ Aqua Boy ’ ready to conquer 2017

Teen on a mission . If there ’ s any indication that will best describe Angelo Macaraig ’ s next challenge , it would be the 2017 Provincials slated this coming August 18- 20 in Kamloops , BC . The 12- year-old Macaraig will be riding on his momentum from a stellar performance in the recently-concluded Simon Fraser Regional Championship , where he garnered 4 silvers and 2 bronze medals . His six-medal haul paved the way for his entry in the toughest swim meet this season . This time , Angelo eyes a better performance on a bigger stage that will boost his chances in the next higher level of competition . In the August 6 regional championship , he registered his fastest time of the season clocking 1:12 , to beat the Provincial Qualifying Time of 1:15 en route to a silver medal tally . Aside from a great individual performance , Angelo also helped his PoCo Marlins relay team to a silver and bronze medal finish . The young Macaraig was responsible in shoving his freestyle relay team to land a spot in the Provincial
Championship . “ The price of success , dedication , hard work and unremitting devotion to the things that you want to see to happen ,” says dad Deedee . “ Maraming maraming salamat po , hindi pa po kami dyan nagtatapos .” Among the four individual entries he ’ ll be competing in the Kamloops swim meet , Angelo will focus on his favorite 100 m backstroke and the 200 m individual medley . Dad Deedee is oozing with confidence that his son will end up in the top three spot goals , their dad , Roel Del Rosario and the rest of the Del Rosario clan are seeking any financial help to cover the cost of accommodations and air fare . “ Big or small , your contribution is greatly appreciated . that matter , the Asian Games and the Olympic Games , according to Carrasco , who is also the president of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines , is an opportunity for the youths of the world to gather in the “ spirit of friendship and learn the importance of values that transcend differences in nationality , geography and culture .”
“ It is in these international competitions
where athletes show the importance of sports in the nations ’ mandate to build a healthy and strong citizenry ,” Carrasco emphasized . “ The athletes ’ stories , their struggle to excel teach us great lessons in human courage and perseverance . This showcasing of human spirit is what makes sports appealing to everyone , not just for all of us who love it .”
