Macapinlac Clan Across the Globe Reunited for the Third Time
by Fr. Nilo Belvis Macapinlac
Through the grace of
God, the third grand reunion
of the Macapinlac clan has
been made possible in
North America. It was in the
Sacred Heart Parish Church
in
Wetaskiwin,
Alberta,
Canada that the first day of
the highlight of the reunion
was unfolding with more fun.
It was a three- day of family
events from August 5 to 7,
2017. Thanksgiving Mass has
been celebrated in the Sacred
Heart Church presided by
Rev. Fr. Raymund Macapinlac
Reyes, Vicar for the Clergy
in the Archdiocese of San
Francisco, California, U.S.A.
and concelebrated by his
nephew, Fr. Nilo Macapinlac
serving as pastor of the Sacred
Heart Parish and Missions
within the Roman Catholic
Archdiocese of Edmonton.
Despite
of
hectic
schedule at work, travelling
distance, financial factors,
other priorities in family life
and business and any other
reasons, the said grand
reunion was likened to “a
dream come true.” There were
74 members of the Macapinlac
clan who registered and
gladly participated in the said
amazing reunion and family
bonding. “Love for God and
for one another “ was the
spirit embraced by the said
gathering. The first night was
concluded with personal and
family Act of Consecration
to the Most Sacred Heart of
Jesus.
The entire family of
the Big Mac reminisced the
great nostalgia of the past It
was modeled after the late
Celestino Duenas Macapinlac
( who served as Municipal
President for two terms
during the Commonwealth
government) who consecrated
the
entire
Municipality
of
Minalin,
Pamapanga,
Philippines in May 10, 1934.
Despite of political and social
unrest was prevailing that time
due to insurgency problem,
peace and order was restored
as the fruit of this spirituality
and devotion.
After which a special
meeting in preparation for
the 2019 Grand Reunion has
been set and it was decided to
be held in Seattle, U.S.A.. Mr.
Eric Macapinlac Sawyer will
be the Over-all Chairperson
to host the big event for the
Macapinlac Clan across the
world. The family crest was
handed over to him. Below is
the picture of the turning over.
The crest was made by one
of the artistic granddaughters
(Dimple) of the late Gov. Jose
G. Macapinlac.
The
grand
reunion
was indeed full of activities,
sumptuous dinner had been
served, there were sports or
golf tournament and games
for children and adults to
enjoy, individual and family
pictorial was taken according
to their dress color code, night
dance and talented Angeles-
Macapinlac-Gonzales (Tea-
G) singer performed for the
evening’s
entertainment,
floor dance till after 10:30
at night. And yet the night
was also solemn since it
was concluded with the Act
of Consecration to the Most
Sacred Heart of Jesus and
everyone remembered their
faithful departed in the said
evening prayer.
The grand reunion for
the third time was truly a
dream come true! The family
that prays and eats together
stays together. To the God of
relationship and communion
who is Father, Son and Holy
Spirit be loved, adored and
be praised in this reunion now
and forever. Amen
