Sometimes true stories make the best transitions to the silver screen . Off to mysterious India we go . At the start of this film we see two young children , brothers in all ways , busy exploring the land while going about their daily activities to survive . How sad it is to see the youngest boy , Sadoo , all of five years , go astray .
You feel the fear of the lost boy riding the incredible railways of the land . Lost but not forgotten our story picks up twenty odd years later . Enter the more mature Dev Patel ( Slumdog Millionaire ). Only now our boy Sadoo is a man and life goes in having been adopted by a liberal oriented couple in of all places scenic Australia led by none other than Nicole Kidman ( Eyes Wide Shut ).
Turmoil rages within Sadoo as he continues his studies only to be affected by longings to go home . Lion lets this struggle and search unfold brilliantly . Superb performances from all concerned make this one of the most emotional , heartfelt film sagas in years . How it all turns out makes this a must see movie not to be missed .

Without A Rallying ... FROM A29

in Bicol , ( h ) P171-billion worth of infrastructure projects and many more while relentlessly pursuing his ongoing campaign to finally rid the country of the illegal drug menace which the President claim as the precursor of everything that induce graft and corruption in both the public and private sector as well as criminal activities perpetrated by criminals under the influence of illegal drugs .
These positives resulted in a very high satisfactory rating for the President and even political analysts will agree that under these circumstances , the chances of President Mayor Duterte finishing his term is not only a possibility but is assured as it would be foolhardy even for the most determined among the Opposition to go against a President who has outperformed all his predecessors in the first five months of his governance . Certainly , no other President can come close to what Duterte has so far achieved . The Opposition seem to have overlooked the fact that in politics , what matters and what the people look for are solid projects that are bereft of the usual graft attached to such .
Duterte has also succeeded in gaining the support of the country ’ s neighbors especially from among the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations that even the region ’ s
two powerful countries – China and Japan – have expressed their support for his drive against illegal drugs and are rather amused by his cussing , bad language and all . Thus , under these political currents there is just no way that the administration of President Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte will feel threatened unless a major major debacle arises from which the President may not be able to recover .
And in spite of the profanities coming out of the President ’ s mouth , the public seem consigned to accept the fact that this is who he said he is and the people do not mind what his critics say and have decided to just take him for what he is . But for this adulation to remain , the President will have to out-perform even himself and make sure that he delivers what he promised he will do – to make the people ’ s lives peaceful , safer , better and healthier .
In this Season of Christmas when God in the person of Jesus Christ is born to save mankind from the scourge of sin , let us not just pray for one another ( Jam 5:16 ) but we must also pray for our leaders ( 1 Tim 2:2 ) because more than anyone else , our leaders are in need of prayers because of the tremendous responsibility they carry on their shoulders .

DRY DUCK

Q . Why doesn ’ t a duck get soaked in water ?
A . A duck ’ s feathers fit together in neat , overlapping rows , causing water to run off instead of staying and soaking in / It also relies on a greasy substance called preen oil to keep it water resistant . Produced by a small sac at the base of the duck ’ s tail , free oil helps block out water while keeping the duck ’ s waterproof covering in top condition .
Ooops ! The word quack , in reference to a person who fraudulently professes medical knowledge , has nothing to do with a duck or the sound it makes . It is actually a shortened form of the old Dutch term quacksalver , meaning “ puffer of salves ,” used to describe a pretender to medical skills or a medical salesman who exaggerated the merits of his products . The allied term quackery has long been slang for the practice or pretensions of a quack .
Classified Odd . A newly hatched greylag gosling ( a young goose ) will follow the first moving object it sees , and adopt it as its mother . In one study , one gosling adopted such mother-substitutes as a ball , a dog , and a block of wood .
WORD WATCH Pateros : Spanish for “ duck raiser ”
