wicked witches:
Indepth conversation with wendy of Mystikal Scents
A few years ago I was in a very dark place in my life. I did not have any direction in life or understanding of who I was. I gave up studying magick for a year and didn’t care for anything else that use to make me happy. There was only one place where I was able to keep that depression at bay. It was the only place where I felt normal; Mystikal Scents in Thonotosassa, Florida. Mystikal Scents is one of the most popular and well known metaphysical shops in the Tampa Bay Area. It is the home of live music, events, and some of the best readers and mediums in Tampa Bay. Upon enerting one find a strong smell of incense, music playing, and running water. The overstuffed couches have had many a patrons’ fall fast sleep on them from the relaxing, healing energy. Yes, indeed this place and those that work there helped me rediscover myself. It is such an honor for me to have the ability to work with the owner Pearl Prather, the clerks, and readers to give my thanks for everything they did and do for me. I knew when I decided to create a section for Witches that I wanted my first featured witch to be from Mystikal Scents. It was a pleasure and privilege to be seated with Wendy (a manager and medium) on the big comfy couch next to the fairy fountain for a in depth conversation. Ms. Wendy begins the conversation with explaining on how she first began her magickal journey.
“I was always interested in magcik; very intensely growing up. In middle and early high school years I remember a group of girls that was practicing. One day one of else girls came up to be told let me know that I was a witch and she knew this because of the things I said and did. She let me know that she knew someone that was having a hard time with a spell and wanted to know if I could help her. It was when I realized that I wasn’t alone in doing this practice.”
In this modern world is so much easier to be able to connect with fellow magickal practitioners of all paths. When Wendy and I were growing up there was limited resources available to us to help us realize that our ideas and perceptions are shared by many. We all must be grateful to all of the modern and ancient practitioners that paved the way and held onto the Old Ways that we have near endless access to today. As time went by Wendy became more comfortable and skilled as a witch, however at 18 years of age Wendy learned that The Universe had greater plans for her and brought forth a dormant ability to the service. At eight teen years old Wendy realized that she was not only a Witch but also a Medium.
“The next thing was when I realized that I was reading cards and was a Medium when I was eighteen. Some friends wanted to play with the Ouija Board.”
Wendy is one that does not condone “playing” with Ouija Boards unless there is a valid reason for it. Also, that those involved are aware of all of the rules and Wendy had never studied the Ouija Board before but she knew in her mind’s eye that there are rules when dealing with Ouija Board. However, she did agree to help her friends with this session since they were determined to do it no matter what anyways. Her ultimate goal is participating in this session was to keep her friends safe.
“We were going to communicate with my grandfather and it turned out that we ended up channeling a set of sister’s father. The father died when one of the girls was very young. I ended up telling this story about their father. The two girls go up and left to the kitchen table. Myself and another girl picked up the Ouija Board. As we went into the kitchen and the sisters were crying. They told me that the story was exactly what their father had said on his death bed for the oldest sister to tell the younger sister. However, she never told her. That experience help me become more solidified as a Witch and Medium.”
Although this experience really helped Wendy become secure in whom she truly is; like many of us; it was not her first experience with the Spirit World. Ms. Wendy shared with me an experience that she had when she was twelve years old visiting her grandparents’ home. Wendy and her sister were sleeping in one room, their parents in another, and grandparent in their own room. During the night Wendy’s sister got up and went down stairs. Wendy then shared with me what she had experienced after her sister left the room
“I felt like some else was there but I was falling asleep. I then felt my bed lift up and start to shake. I then sat up and said ‘Well, that was just rude.’ I realized after that instance that I wasn’t afraid of the things that people are usually afraid of; things that they don’t know how to handle. I’ve always this kind of knowing all my life.”
