NCOP PHASE 1 REVIEW
Success and Impact of NCOP Phase 1 The success and impact of Phase 1 has been split into three key areas :
1 . Investment 2 . IAG ( information , advice and guidance ) 3 . Partnership development
Each section has been divided below with relevant evidence drawn from across both primary and secondary sources .
Investment
The main success and impact across all primary sources , was the additional investment NCOP has provided to schools .
Across all interviews , professionals mentioned the SUN funding had enabled resources to be used to enhance and enrich statutory curriculum , careers and attainment activities across targeted year groups . All interviewees mentioned that austerity measures and school funding cuts have restricted schools and colleges in providing enriched learning experiences for their students , and specifically students from areas of low participation .
“ So that ' s been one of our biggest ways we ' ve been spending the money . On trips that we previously wouldn ' t have been able to go on because we can ' t keep funding the transport etc . by having it subsidized by the students themselves .” SPoC Hampshire School
SLT and SPoC survey responses confirmed that funding that is directly given to schools is of top priority . The analysis of responses from both survey and interviews suggest that this funding method enables school and FECs to provide specific interventions directly linking to learner need in each institution .
94 % of SPoCs and SLTs were confident in their understanding of SUN ’ s aims and objectives and the returned monitoring reports from SPoCs in the previous two years have proven that funding is being spent on NCOP learners and events and interventions that are directly linked to NCOP aims and objectives .
The creativity of funding usage was also apparent in SPoC interviews with a wide range of events being undertaken across the network . Activities were mainly targeted at NCOP learners but some institutions had used funding for staff CPD and project funding directly working with NCOP key influencers .
