Specialist Training
Following BRTC( R) you will undertake a Medical Supply, DMICP and Blood Supply course at the Defence Medical Academy at DMS Whittington, Staffordshire.
Your Engagement Your engagement will be for 12 years on an Initial Commission.
The minimum annual commitment is 27 Reserve Service Days( RSDs) broken down into 15 RSDs Annual Continuous Training( ACT) and 12 days Non-Continuous Training( NCT).
You will be required to maintain your GPhC registration, and your professional competence will be reviewed annually to ensure you remain fit for role within the RAF Medical Reserves.
Your Career Prospects
Following completion of BRTC( R) you will be awarded the rank of AS1. On completion of the phase 2 training courses, you be awarded the rank of AS1( T). Time promotion to Acting Corporal will be 12 months from the award of AS1 following receipt of a positive recommendation. Following Junior Management Leadership Course( JMLC) you will gain the substantive rank. Promotion to Sergeant will be awarded 4 years from receipt of Cpl and again with a positive recommendation. You will need to complete the Intermediate Management Leadership Course( IMLC) prior to get substantive rank. Further Opportunities also exist in various locations throughout the UK and Overseas on Exercises and Operations.
Ongoing Development
There are a variety of follow-on training courses focused on your future career and may include Healthcare Governance and Leadership and Management.
Transferable Skills
The skills and experience you gain throughout your military career as a Pharmacy Technician may help you develop within your civilian role and take new skills back to your employer, such as leadership and management, crisis and emergency planning, disaster and humanitarian relief and healthcare logistics.
