Dunkeld is a town in Victoria, Australia, at the southern end of the Grampians
National Park, in the Shire of Southern Grampians.
It is approx 283 km west of Melbourne on the Glenelg Highway. The town's
population is holding steady but ageing. At the 2016 census, Dunkeld had a
population of 678.

At the foot of Mount Sturgeon, the
southern tip of the Grampians and the
Great Dividing Range, is the village
of Dunkeld.
The commercial centre of Dunkeld
includes several cafes, the acclaimed Royal
Mail Hotel, a general store and visitor
information centre. Memorial Park is
located in the heart of town and features a
war memorial, extensive lawns, swimming
pool, playground, bowling green and
tennis courts.
The 18 hectare Dunkeld Arboretum is
located off MacArthur Street and consists
of hundreds of trees and a large lake. .

Visitors can see majestic red gums end
enjoy picturesque views of the Grampians.
There is a 2 kilometre walking track around
the lake, a sandstone labyrinth and an old
sawmill which stands as a testament to the
major role the timber industry played in
Dunkeld's history.
Dunkeld is the southern gateway to the
Grampians and is located close to the
iconic rock formations of Mount Sturgeon
and Mount Abrupt.
Excellent views of these mountains can be
enjoyed from the scenic viewing area on
the Glenelg Highway,
just 2 kilometres west of the town centre.
Otherwise, energetic walkers may wish to
hike the several kilometres to the summit
of these peaks and be rewarded with
panoramic views of the national park and
its surroundings.
