The opportunity to take up independent research through the Monash Doctoral Program is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences we can offer you.
The program consists of an extensive, independent research project in your discipline of choice, supported by a minimum of two academic supervisors throughout your candidature. Your study will result in a research thesis which makes a valuable contribution to the current body of knowledge on your chosen topic.

DR SUNIL SHRESTHA
Doctor of Philosophy
Sunil’ s research examines cancer pain management challenges in low- and middle-income countries, specifically in his home country Nepal, and explores the role of clinical pharmacists in improving patient outcomes. His work aims to inform healthcare policies and promote the integration of pharmacists into cancer care teams, leading to better pain management, medication, education, and quality of life for patients.
His contributions has led to several awards, including the 2023 Young Health Researcher Award from the Nepal Health Research Council and the 2024 Science and Technology Youth Award 2081 from the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology. He was also recognised among the top 2 % of cited scientists globally in health policy and services.
