The right shot in direct compression

In billiards, a discreet balance of resilient and inelastic collision is needed to pocket the opponent’ s balls. A similar principle is important in the transformation of powders into coherent solid bodies such as tablets. This plastically deforms particles in combination with fractionating while brittle materials tend to develop outperforming synergies.

MicroceLac 100 is one such synergistic, well-balanced material. It is also known as a co-processed excipient consisting of 75 percent alpha-lactose-monohydrate and 25 percent microcrystalline cellulose( MCC). MicroceLac 100 is manufactured by spray-drying and clearly outperforms the physical admixture regarding constant hardness through a fi xed ratio of lactose and MCC. It shows a remarkable compaction profi le, even in high dosage formulations.
Benefits and areas of application
Meggle produces this fi ller-binder, which is available in South Africa from Amchem. As a highly renowned enterprise, Meggle enjoys an excellent reputation and its excipients are used in more than 100 countries.
Typical features of MicroceLac 100 include its excellent weight consistency at various compaction speeds and a low aggregation tendency. It can be used for all direct compression formulations from low to high dosage at optimum output. It also helps to stabilise content uniformity trough adhesion of active ingredients and is most appreciated in highly effective, low dosage formulations, such as oral contraceptives.
MicroceLac 100 can improve the rheological properties of powder blends while serving as a means for troubleshooting in poorly fl owing preparations, including micronised active ingredients.
MicroceLac 100 is best suited for use in oblong and small tablets. A letter of authorisation for Drug Master File type IV and a Meggle monograph are available on request. ·
