3 4 In 2008, another very interesting primary Phalaenopsis hybrid flowered and was RHS registered by Brochart; this was a cross between Phal. schilleriana × finleyi (Ki. minus). This handsome little hybrid was registered as Phal. Alyos. The plant has numerous-flowered inflorescences with finely dotted red flowers. When one parent was moved to Phalaenopsis finleyi from Kingidium minus the specific epithet had to be changed since there was already a name described in Phalaenopsis with a similar name, Phal. minor; therefore, Eric Christenson suggested the name should be Phal. finleyi. According to this classification, the hybrid is Phal. Alyos. 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 Acknowledgments: We thank Alain Brochart who willingly provided the images for this article. Literature: Gruss, O. & M.
