Knowing, understanding, sharing
The Petzl Solutions network
Working in vertical and hostile environments requires the
correct application of the right products. Mastery in this area
also requires an understanding of the environments in which
these products are used. This helps develop the appropriate
skills and reflexes.
This knowledge of the terrain includes a better understanding
of human behavior in its physiological, psychological and
emotional dimensions.
Developing an understanding of practices for the best
possible adaptation of people and tools, and sharing
this knowledge with the worldwide community of vertical
professionals are the two key objectives that have guided
the decision to create Petzl Solutions modules and their
international deployment network.
Alongside its distribution network, Petzl is developing an
international network whose purpose is to disseminate and
share training modules.
Training modules
Each of the modules deals with a specific problem.
They are based on experimentation in concrete situations.
These modules are grouped into three themes:
- Product Expertise to focus on product knowledge and skills
development
- Solutions Expertise focused on analyzing the interactions
related to product combinations used in the field
- Environmental Expertise to better focus on adapting
behavior and equipment usage to the specifics of certain
vertical environments
Examples of modules:
- ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik
- emergency self-evacuation using the EXO evacuation
system
- mobile fall-arrest device on a rope
- periodic inspection of fall protection PPE
This network rests on two entities:
• A Petzl Technical Institute: a distributor of training content,
audited and certified by Petzl. It is responsible for distributing
training modules and materials associated with its territory,
as well as development, management and audit of the Petzl
Technical Partners regional network. Petzl Technical Institutes
already exist in several countries: France, Switzerland, United
Kingdom, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, and the
USA.
• A Petzl Technical Partner: a training center audited and
certified by a Petzl Technical Institute. As a network member,
a Petzl Technical Partner is entitled to integrate the content of
the training modules in its own training programs.
