Tell us about how you found Gooshi and how long you have had him for ? Gooshi is a rescued dog . He came to Dubai from Iran , with the family who had him initially . However , the family was unable to look after him and so Gooshi ended up at a lady ’ s house who fosters animals and finds them suitable homes . She contacted us , as I was on the list of people who were interested in fostering pets . This was about six years ago and Gooshi has been with us since .
Tibetan Terriers have the tendency to be dominating and like to make their own rules . How true is that about Gooshi and what is his nature like otherwise ? Well yes that is kind of true . He is a grown up dog so he knows what he wants . He is an obedient dog otherwise . Since Gooshi is a rescued dog , and we were told his previous owners abused him , he is a very scared dog . He tends to get more uncomfortable around men as opposed to women . A dog psychologist told us that this is probably because Gooshi was abused by the male member of the family that initially had him . So he sometimes gets very defensive and barks a lot , but he is great otherwise and can be very affectionate too .
What does Gooshi ’ s diet consist of ? Hotel slippers ! He loves those . He likes to chew on them , so I need to be careful to keep them away from him [ laughs ]. We give him regular dog food , mostly the dry variety . However , the water he drinks needs to be ice cold and fresh . He will not drink it otherwise . He will just sniff it and walk away if it is regular temperature water . So we make sure he has ice-cold water all the time .
It is said that this breed needs an adequate amount of exercise to avoid certain health issues . Does Gooshi get his daily exercise ? Not really . We take him for a walk at the beach on the weekends . During the summer , he just likes to relax in the garden . He does not enjoy walking in the heat . However , the younger ones are more energetic and do need more exercise . Gooshi is old now , so he mostly likes to chill out around the house . Tibetan Terriers enjoy the cooler weather . That is probably in his DNA too , since he is from Tibet [ laughs ].
