The inspiring rescue story of Skylar and her three-legged puppy, Skip.

Hidden between piles of logs on the streets, a frightened mother dog named Skylar curled protectively around her tiny puppy, Skip. With no shelter from the cold and no certainty about the future, survival was their daily reality. Yet through every hardship, one thing never wavered: Skylar’ s fierce love for her baby.
Skip faced extraordinary challenges from the very beginning. Born with only three legs, the fragile puppy was especially vulnerable to the dangers of street life. But despite his disability, Skip’ s spirit remained unbreakable. Brave, determined, and full of life, he stayed close to his mother as she guided and protected him through each difficult day.
No matter how hungry, exhausted, or vulnerable she became, Skylar never stopped fighting for her little boy. Their bond was powerful – a touching reminder of the resilience animals possess and the unconditional love only a mother can give.
When rescuers finally brought Skylar and Skip to safety, both desperately needed medical care, nourishment, and time to heal. Slowly, with warm beds, full tummies, veterinary treatment, and endless compassion from shelter staff, the pair began learning to trust again.
As the weeks passed, their true personalities started to shine. Skip quickly won hearts with his playful energy and determination, proving that having three legs would never stop him embracing life. Skylar’ s gentle nature and quiet strength touched everyone she met.
Then came the moment they had been waiting for: a forever family saw beyond their painful past and recognised the incredible connection they shared. Refusing to separate them, Brad Buttner and Nathalie Immenga chose to adopt Skylar and Skip together.
Today, Skylar and Skip no longer worry about where they will sleep or how they will survive. The loving mother who once sheltered her puppy between logs on the streets now watches him thrive in a safe, warm home filled with love and care.
