Habitat alteration . This is the less invasive and radical method for extermination of unwanted guests . The exterminators use different kind of traps for the pests in order to capture them , and after that they release them into a wild environment , where they won ' t be damaging people ' s homes . This is a more humane way to exterminate the pests , but in some cases it doesn ' t work too well , because if they miss even one rat or bed bug , or any other kind of pest , the whole nightmare will start all over again .
Follow up inspections . After the extermination is done , it ' s recommended to conduct a follow up inspection , to see if the infestation is entirely in the past . Especially if the method used for the extermination is the less radical one , the risk of getting your home infested once again is very big . These follow up inspections are usually conducted up to a week after the extermination .
