Habitat alteration. This is the less invasive and radical method for extermination of unwanted guests. The exterminators use different kind of traps for the pests in order to capture them, and after that they release them into a wild environment, where they won ' t be damaging people ' s homes. This is a more humane way to exterminate the pests, but in some cases it doesn ' t work too well, because if they miss even one rat or bed bug, or any other kind of pest, the whole nightmare will start all over again.
Follow up inspections. After the extermination is done, it ' s recommended to conduct a follow up inspection, to see if the infestation is entirely in the past. Especially if the method used for the extermination is the less radical one, the risk of getting your home infested once again is very big. These follow up inspections are usually conducted up to a week after the extermination.
