Perth & Kinross Universal Youth Work Evaluation 2019 - 2020 | Page 9

In seeking new areas to reach out to KYTHE identified Crook of Devon as a gap area. The funding enabled KYTHE to hire halls and secure posts for 2 youth workers with additional input from volunteers. Improved staff and volunteer confidence has enabled the whole KYTHE team to discover new skills and grow more passionate about their youth work. KYTHE are taking care not to grow too big too quickly, but welcome the opportunities that lie ahead. To support this another full time youth worker was employed, spreading the workload and range of activities and support on offer.

Began: April 2010 No of y.p. 60

Located in the town of Crieff, LOGOS has worked with local community groups and the community school of Auchterarder to set up a new base in this area. The funding gave LOGOS the confidence to employ two new sessional workers and hire premises to use as a base. It is just about ready to open and everyone is eager to launch when the Lockdown ends. The main challenges ahead are meeting new demands, recruiting and training volunteers and to ensure that what is created can be sustained beyond the agreed funding term. They are delighted to now be able to reach beyond Crieff.

BREATHE

Opening of a new Teen Drop-in 'The Breathe Lounge'

Began: September 2019 No of y.p. 88

Since 2006 Breathe has successfully established a model of youth work and youth ministry based in Aberfeldy Parish Church. An opportunity arose to take over a disused library in the town centre. Young people were involved in developing and managing the space. As a result Breathe has become more visible in the local community and new young people have engaged in activities. They are also reaching out to make connections with businesses and spaces are available to hire. They hope to continue in the same vein in the year ahead so that more people understand and connect with what they do.
