Perth & Kinross Universal Youth Work Evaluation 2019 - 2020 | Page 11

OUTCOMES

for YOUTH ORGANISATIONS

11

1 Security and sustainability with core and programme support.

2 Reduced time spent on applications and reporting with Gannochy Trust & PKC.

3 Shared knowledge, expertise and resources through structured networking and monitoring.

4 increased profile, voice and value from being part of an authority wide collective.

Outcome 1:

All partners agreed that the funding has given them more security and sustainability with core and programme support. Laying this foundation allowed new ventures to emerge in year one (as reported under outcomes for young people). Likewise partners acknowledged that getting funding for what is needed and getting support from funders were 'excellent' benefits afforded by the funding.

Nonetheless, the second most common challenge identified by partner youth organisations was 'maintaining funding after year 3'. Partners are mindful that the two year extension depends on successful achievement of outcomes in this phase. The organisations are cautious of expanding beyond sustainable levels until future funding is secured.

Outcome 2:

Further checks will be made in year two to assess whether time on applications and reporting has reduced overall. Partners now give more time and energy to working in partnership, which was not a required feature of their working life beforehand.

Outcome 3:

Youth organisations have welcomed the opportunity to come together through the partnership. Knowledge and experience is being shared through a peer-review model that will continue in years two and three.

Outcome 4:

A clear measure of success is that the partners made a collective bid for CashBack for Communities funding to support their targeted work. They successfully secured the full Perth & Kinross allocation of just underĀ£16.5K for 2020 to 2021.

Through the partnership, youth organisations get access to training and other funding sources. This is channeled through the fund managers. One example is the current response to the Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown, which will be reviewed further in the Year 2 evaluation. Indications are that partners are working to strengthen their organisations and the quality of youth work provision.

More details on each organisation and their new developments is in the case studies.
