For me, our Castells, or human towers, are one of the most stunning cultural traditions worldwide. The values they transmit, the people they involve, and their meaning for Catalan identity, make them one of our strongest cultural symbols. I am especially fascinated with the capacity of the Castells to move emotions of people from around the world. I started taking pictures at Castells seven or eight years ago and I haven’t stopped yet.
I live in the city of Tarragona where the Castells are part of our cultural and social daily life, so it is quite difficult not to be involved to them in some way. In terms of photography, from my point of view the Castells have everything a good photo should have, not only in the frame, but also outside it—around the camera.
