After a successful career start in real estate development, the market crash necessitated a rethink for Kahi Pacarro. Cashing in on his success garnered through hi-rise condominium development spawned a two year around the world surf trip. What he witnessed along the way caused a shift in his mindset. Our overuse of plastic and overall disregard for the health of our oceans was resulting in the degradation of paradise.

In order to educate, inspire and empower individuals worldwide, we need to provide the tools for them to engage.

What are the tools you / your organization are offering for people to be part of the solution to plastic pollution?

The tools we provide are the basic understanding of what plastics are, why they are a problem, and how we can reduce our use of plastics. We do this through participation in our beach cleanups. The coastlines are our classrooms and it is there where we make the most impact. But we also have an education station, a 20ft. container that has been converted into a mobile classroom which will be launched in Winter 2015 to exponentially increase the amount of people we are able to educate off the beach.

We also utilize an active social media campaign focused on engaging photographs through our instagram account, check it out at @sustainablecoastlineshawaii. Also on Facebook.com/sustainablecoastlineshawaii

Our website, blog, and vlog also serve as educational tools to inspire you to change your lifestyle even in the smallest ways that will have tangible positive effects on our coastlines.
