CORAL REEF Diptych Painting 90 cm x 80 cm Mixed Media On Canvas Tell us about your most recent exhibition? The title of the exhibition, ‘Metamorphosis,’ describes the natural process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in one or more stages, such as the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. This process is similar to what one may experience after spending time in nature, a sense of growth and transformation. The exhibition was uniquely designed to be delightfully interactive. Every artwork in the exhibition was displayed with a little story neatly tucked below the painting, like a gentle whisper depicting an impression of nature. On display, you would also find a small collection of photographs I have taken during travels, places that had left a lasting impression on my mind and soul. Tell us about the unique gift buyers get when they purchase your art? Some paintings begin with a vision that becomes a story, and some begin with a story that ends in an impression. I often work with private clients who commission paintings for particular areas of their homes, and these paintings become unique collaborations between me and the buyer, so that a shared vision emerges from their ideas and mine, from the interactions of their interior spaces with my imagination, from their most passionate ideas about life with my fondest memories of nature. These works are truly collaborative, allowing the buyer’s ideas to materialize in their homes through unique art that captures something personal about them and something divined from my experiences of the natural world. This process can take time—and it’s how I spend a lot of my time creating art— and the time rewards the client with a gift from their own hearts through my hands. Either way—whether they buy already completed work or commission original paintings—every client receives a personal, handwritten letter sealed with wax and stamped with my logo, along with a letter of authenticity documenting the originality of the artwork. What advice would you give artists who are just starting out? First, be genuine and authentic to yourself, and don’t think you have to adopt someone else’s approach or style just because you admire it or because a certain artist is considered a great master.
