Student Accomplishments • Milan Chandy, Andrew DiSanto, Derek Lee, Connor Letterio, Maxwell Lin, Katie Litak, Scott Mahon, Vian Rosal, Jordan Wenning and Abigail Yeager were named Commend- ed Students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program. Maxwell and Katie went on to receive Finalist status. • Milan Chandy was selected to represent Pennsylvania as a U.S. Senator for 2018 American Legion Boys Nation. • The Perkiomen Valley High School Boys Soccer Team won its first Pioneer Athletic Conference title in 17 years. • PV Voice received a Gold Mark rating in the Pennsylvania School Press Association Summer Critique contest. • The Perkiomen Valley High School football team won its third consecutive Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship. • North Montco Technical Career Center students Jessica Avery, Patrick Davis, Dante DiDomenico, Joseph Dinnocenti, Ryan Keebler, Brandon MacMahon, Ha- ley Rumer, Maya Scheuerman, and Laith Stanley won awards in the Pennsylvania Farm Show for floral arrangements. • High school students Taja Mazaj, Lillian Miller, Ryann Piperno, Keira Trout, and Andrew Voigt, as well as Hansen Smith from Perkiomen Valley Middle School West, all received awards at the Pennsyl- vania Junior Academy of Science Fair held in Souderton. Taja, Keira and Ryann also won awards and honors at the Montgom- ery County Science Research Competition held at Germantown Academy. • Lillian Miller was one of only 113 students from around the world to earn every possi- ble point on the AP United States Govern- ment and Politics Exam in May 2018. She is in an elite group of students represent- ing just .034 of 2018 AP US Government and Politics Exam takers. • The Perkiomen Valley High School Boys Track and Field Team won the school’s first Pioneer Athletic Conference Champi- onship. • Brooke Zelin, a Perkiomen Valley Middle School East seventh-grader, was accepted into the Junior Mensa Honor Society. She is one of only 61 students across the country to be admitted into this elite organization. • South Elementary School was named “Best in State” in the 2018 Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge, a free, online summer reading program that aims to help stu- dents return to school reading-ready. • Fourteen fifth- and sixth-grade band mem- bers participated in the Pennsylvania Music Education Association’s District 11 Elemen- tary Band Fest at Upper Perkiomen High School in January. • The Perkiomen Valley High School Science Olympiad team finished third out of 30 teams during a regional competition held at Kutztown University.
