The Panama’ s Town Hall together with a Road Safety Education program, created by the Seguridad Ciudadana’ s Office, released a program called“ Red Pro Cultura Vial” as a part of Plan Maestro Mesoamericano. The program, proposed by the WHO, the PHO, and the Mexican International Development Cooperation, aims to improve road safety in cities and other urban areas by raising awareness through communication and education campaigns, and also by promoting the use of bikes and inclusive policies that facilitate activities for handicaps.
The campaign will initially be presented in the MUPIS, and then will be advertised through all possible media under the responsibility of Panama’ s town hall.
A total 51 % of traffic accidents were registered only in Panama District in 2016.

According to some data provided by the National Statistics Institute and the Comptroller General of the Republic, almost a half affected pedestrians directly.
Road safety is a global problem due to malpractices regarding road education. Traffic accidents are considered a health issue by the WHO. Although it is the 9th cause of death in the world, th WHO fear that by 2020, traffic accidents will be the third one.
Those numbers speak volumes, and that is why there’ s a need to promote and coordinate actions for a safe road education, which goes hand in hand with the active participation of public entities and civil organizations, in order to reduce traffic accidents and related.

Renovation works in the retail seafood market have finished, and from November 16th on, merchants will be offering better and more salubrious products with international quality standards.
The mayor José Blandon informed that works in the wholesale market will start next week and end in March 2018. The reopening will be held in the framework of the designation of Panama as Creative Gastronomic City-or Ciudad Creativa Gastronómica- by the UNESCO.
4.8 million dollars were invested: Drainage and sewer systems, cold chambers, bathrooms, and non-skid acrylic floors with industrial covering were built. The renewal will benefit directly around 5200 people between merchants, visitors, and tourists.
