For synagogues desecrated, neighborhoods emptied. We sit low to the ground in darkness, Not only for what was, But for what STILL IS.
As we lament, so too does God. The God who mourned our exile from Israel must surely dwell with us now. We stand in silence and in question before the eternal mystery, A people set apart, our hearts heavy without answers.
And yet … uncertain, We rise and rebuild, We protect the living. We are so much more than our history and our struggles. Layered under the wounds of generations, We resolve to bring healing to a broken world. We will start again with shaking hands and silent prayers.
“ The kindness of God has not ended, And God’ s mercies are not spent. They are renewed every morning.” 49
May our resilience rise as testimony, and may we walk in courage and hope, God of the brokenhearted, Through Your boundless mercy, Hold us forever under the shadow of Your wings. 50
May the One who rebuilds Jerusalem Rebuild our world in peace. And let us say: Amen.
