Just south of Playa Del Carmen there is an amazing 200 acre ecological park called Xcaret. It is built in the same area as an archaeological site that shares the same name and is dotted with cenotes and underground rivers throughout this coastal jungle paradise. In Fact, the cenotes play a large roll for weddings and events as‘ La Isla’, the dry basin of one cenote, becomes the main reception hall for up to 600 guests. There seems to be an endless list of locations for weddings within this park, from open-air churches, underground cenote churches, haciendas, restaurants and the beach where two ceremony platforms are right on the ocean. A cool alternative is " Vino de México "
Vino de México Wine Cellar
Entrance to La Isla, also used as a ceremony location.
Wine Cellar. Being a cavernous and comfortable underground location, it is a very popular spot for smaller weddings and receptions of 22 people.
Whether it’ s your wedding, honeymoon or you are just touristing, this park needs to be experienced over a full day as there is so much to do and enjoy. One such experience is to swim with the dolphins. Although I am not a fan of animals in captivity I do have to admit the experience of swimming with dolphins should be had by everyone. Their pool is built right into the ocean plus they have an advanced care and medical facility to ensure these lovely creatures are in optimal health. www. xcaretweddings. com
