Saint Vitus Cathedral
Lounge Bar at Augustine Hotel
Prague is full of new and mysterious discoveries. Whether touring by horse and carriage, by bicycle or on foot, a little bit of adventurous spirit can go a long way. Behind walls, behind doorways, sometimes a very dull exterior hides an incredible scene. This really is a place where the very old co-exists with the ultra-modern, where every building has a story. St. Vitus Cathedral is one such place. Awe-inspiring both inside and out, this should not be missed.
Saint Thomas Cathedral
We were lucky enough to discover the Augustine Hotel at the foot of Charles Bridge. Set behind a plain white façade was a luxury 5-star hotel built into an ancient but fully functioning Monastery complete with Monks! The Cathedral( top right), which houses ancient Roman Catholic artifacts, is rarely open to the public. It is possible to wed here, providing you are of the faith and cooperate fully with the monks. Throughout the hotel, original frescoes are still viewable in many places, and the guest rooms are nothing short of true opulence. That fancifulness can also be found at The Gourmet Club Restaurant found at the Art Nouveau Palace Hotel where you will find both service and food is exceptional. Bring it down a notch( or two) and we can talk beer! Finding the oldest pub in Prague can be daunting, as you might mistake the candlelit medieval styled U krále Brabantského for the Restaurace U Fleku, as we first did.
