TRAVEL
World-class luxury, seducing an ultramodern hipness that places this hotel on its own level, Nizuc Resort and Spa really is the new school for cool! Located on the south end of the Cancun strip and just 10 minutes from the airport, the hotel offers a modern take on ancient Mayan style with very spacious and luxurious suites, tall ceilings, beautiful views, luxury amenities and bedding. The multi-tower resort features an area for adults-only plus a fantastic infinity pool with swim-up bar. Awarded as one of the best hotels in the world, it is no surprise that I had the best sushi ever at their Indochine restaurant, one of six venues for meals.
For weddings, grand celebrations or intimate affairs, Nizuc infuses your celebration with the essence of ancient Mayan culture with an extravagant elegance, creating an elevated wedding or event experience you will cherish for the rest of your life. www. nizuc. com

Where to Dine
Back on Fifth Avenue in Playa Del Carmen we had the pleasure of discovering wonderful new restaurants. In this column are images from NIBS Restaurant, a Mexican haute cuisine establishment headed by award winning Chef Alejandro Cuatepotzo. Located in the open courtyard of Hotel Cacao, NIBS offers unique dishes like ash black bean & grilled corn bread( pictured left), wild mushroom tacos( pictured above) and cured fish slices, watermelon and lime( pictured below). This is a different take on traditional Mexican cuisine and this experience should not be missed.
Yaxche Maya Cuisine- ancient Mayan flavours made with the main spices from the mayan cuisine such as: achiote, pumpkin seeds, chaya leaves, chilmole combined with the contribution of Hispanic cuisine create an unforgettable mouth-watering culinary experience.
La Fisheria is the perfect place for seafood lovers, run by famed chef and reality TV star Aquiles Chavez. Bright and open, it is great to sit and enjoy premium seafood dishes while watching the action on Playa’ s famous Fifth Avenue.
Lime and Habanero Prawns
North to Cancun, one can enjoy stunning views the Nichupté Lagoon, especially at sunset when the sky can turn a magnificent cottoncandy pinkish orange, as shown below. This view was from the Crab House Cancun on Kukulcan Blvd. in the Hotel Zone. The owners and management of the restaurant invited us to sample their chef’ s creations from the bounty of the ocean. What we didn’ t know is the samples would be full plates, a meal fit for a king. One extra note: the owner has a luxury yacht( not shown) and books private tours and intimate dinners for you out on the water. And who brought us here? FERALTAR!
