S . Anne ’ s stick is a twig , broken off further down the prongs , used as a hand rest during the pilgrim ’ s journey . Tied to the prongs of the fork are a cardoon , roses , a sacred picture , a little medallion and a plant known as “ S . Anne ’ s herb .”
