WELCOME TO THE MODULE
We hope that you will have a successful and rewarding period of study and that you will find this an interesting and valuable module to enhance your academic careers and aspirations for a job in management. In these interesting and turbulent times, more than ever it is important that we do not forget the importance of studying the effects of work on people and how this can impact our wider society and our hope is that, through the formal and informal study of the topics, and the discussions we will have during this module, you will not only be exposed to philosophies of and approaches to management held by individuals who have devoted their intellectual lives to clarifying, challenging and deepening their ideas but, as a result, you will have cause to question and deepen your own philosophies around people and work related issues. This will not only stand you in good stead as a management scholar, but also as a manager in your chosen fields upon graduation.
