REGULAR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
* Must attest before 48 th birthday . Candidates can apply from age 15 years and 9 months but are not to attest before 16th birthday .
Qualifications
Normally , you will need GCSEs at Grade C / 4 or above or Scottish National 5 or above at Grade C in English Language and Mathematics . The Scottish National 5 Application of Mathematics ( AoM ) ( Grade A-C ) is also accepted . Candidates / recruits who enter Phase 1 training but who have been taken at risk on authorisation by Specialist Profession Advisor due to deficiency in academic qualification requirements , will be required to achieve Level 2 in Maths and English Functional Skills ( FS ) tests , unless they can prove that they already have these qualifications ( GCSEs or FS ). FS testing will take place on at the Basic Recruit Training Course .

Whether or not you were born in the United Kingdom , you should normally have resided there for the 5 years immediately preceding your application , but candidates with a minimum of 3 years may be considered . If you have resided abroad for a period within this timeframe , dependant on the circumstances you may still be eligible on a case by case basis .
Nationality
You must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland , holder of dual UK / other nationality or have been a Commonwealth citizen since birth ( with ‘ right to work ’ immigration status ). Employment restrictions may be imposed within the Specialisation . Non-British nationals applying for this Specialisation are required to certify that they have been advised of the employment limitations and the consequences of not naturalizing as a British citizen .
Selection
You will be assessed on physical fitness and medical eligibility . Additionally , you will also be required to complete the Defence Aptitude Assessment at your local AFCO to a standard appropriate to your choice of specialisation .
