3 Simple Ways to Getting Better Sleep:
With all the hustle and bustle that goes on in our daily lives, it's no wonder we aren't getting the rest we need to recharge and repower. Do you find yourself overthinking, aka lying awake at night thinking of the unfinished laundry, the bills you have to pay, or the job you don't want to wake up to the next day? or perhaps your life is so wonderful, you just can't sleep because you just can't stop thinking about it? (Don't we all wish we had the latter problem?)
Well here are three simple ways to start making the shift to better rest and less fatigue. Because honestly, you can't expect to be at your best to get your goals accomplished if you don't get the sleep you need, just as much as you can't drive a car with an empty gas tank to your dream destination.
One: Take a Hot Bath
Taking a hot bath before bedtime will help you relax and get some of the day's stress off. Dim the lights, put on some candles, and lay back and enjoy the silence.
Two: Drink some hot tea to soothe the senses. You can also combine this with your hot bath. Some great teas known to help with sleep are chamomile, lemon balm, and valerian. (Valerian is known to smell like stinky feet...so you can't say I didn't warn you, but perhaps the pungent smell might put you right to sleep in no time)
Three: Get cozy in bed with your favorite book. What better way to stop thinking about the events of your day and escape into a world of wonder than with a great read. This can help you stop overthinking and change your attention to something that takes the stress away.
And if all else fails perhaps knowing that overthinking and keeping yourself awake at night will surely NOT solve the problem or accomplish the task needing to be completed, but WILL surely gift you with super, not so great, bags under your eyes that everyone craves to have...said no woman ever!! (and some men I'm sure)
