Somehow in all of the running around to buy all of the gifts and make sure they make it under the tree, which of course is fake because who has time for that, you have to take the little ones to meet the creepy Santa at the local mall, take them sledding so they can say they used their snowsuit at least once this season, stuff the stockings with anything but Legos that'll end up lodged on the bottom of your feet later, and hide that elf on a shelf, or in the back of the cupboard, that you so naively thought was a good idea 2 years ago. After all of this you barely have time to take a sip of that pumpkin spice latte before your reminded that Santa needs fresh baked cookies and a tall glass of milk. You got that second wind and made it through Christmas but just like a real marathon, at the end you are left relieved but exhausted and you need to replenish yourself so you are ready to go for the next one.
