THE JOURNAL OF LIBERTARIAN STUDIES

THE JOURNAL OF LIBERTARIAN STUDIES

AN INTERDISCIPLINARY QUARTERLY REVIEW
THE JOURNAL OF LIBERTARIAN STUDIES, founded by Murray N. Rothbard in 1977, and currently edited by Hans-Hermann Hoppe, fosters scholarship and research in the inter-disciplinary field of libertarianism. Such scholarship finds few outlets in traditional journals, which usually seek only the most specialized articles in their respective individual disciplines. Through the pages of the JLS, authors are able to combine disciplines, such as philosophy, political science, history, law, economics, sociology, geography, anthropology, education, and literature. Thus, the JLS encourages the cross-fertilization of ideas, and promotes the expansion of the libertarian research agenda in a myriad of directions.
THE JOURNAL OF LIBERTARIAN STUDIES accepts both solicited and unsolicited manuscripts. The JLS frequently runs symposia on key topics. Past symposia topics have included“ Immigration,”“ Security, Defense, Law, and Order,”“ The Thought of Murray N. Rothbard,”“ Nozick’ s Conception of Liberty,” and“ Ideology, Action, and the Proper Role of Government.” Individual articles have ranged from“ Shelley’ s Critique of the British National Debt” to“ Sociological Theory in the Shadow of Durkheim’ s Revolt against Economics,” from“ How Philosophical Errors Impede Freedom” to“ A Fairy Tale of the Czech Republic,” from“ Psychiatry in Fiction” to“ The Acculturation of Immigrants in 19th Century America.” Thus, the JLS casts its net broadly, and accepts articles on the basis of their scholarly value, rather than on whether they fit a tightly defined discipline.
