The Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania (NFP), a supporting organization of the Pennsylvania
State Nurses Association (PSNA), is accepting applications for the following scholarships:
2015 Jack E. Barger, Sr., Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund, administered on
behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), was established by the Department of Pennsylvania
VFW in memory of the late Jack E. Barger, Sr., Department Commander, who died while in office.
Six $1,000 scholarships are being awarded to nursing students who meet the following criteria:
1. Recipient must be at least one of the following: (a) active duty service member, (b) U.S. veteran,
or (c) child/spouse of a veteran or active duty service member.
2. Recipient must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
3. Recipient must be an undergraduate student.
4. Recipient is required to attend the local VFW district meeting to accept award.
2015 Alumni Association Scholarship Fund of the Former Albert Einstein Medical Center Nursing
School of Philadelphia. This fund exists to provide scholarships to students demonstrating financial
need in the pursuit of a nursing degree, whether baccalaureate, graduate or post-graduate. Assuming
qualified applicants, the standard will be to select at least one scholarship recipient in each of the
degree levels below. However, should multiple strong candidates stand out in a particular degree level,
NFP’s scholarship committee reserves the right to select more from that group in lieu of selecting
from each degree level. Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are being awarded to nursing students
who meet the following criteria:
1. The applicant must attend an accredited baccalaureate, associate degree, RN-to-BSN-completion
nursing program, advanced nursing degree program, or (re)-certification program in the
Commonwealth.
2. A high school student must be a matriculated undergraduate student in Fall 2015.
3. A baccalaureate student must be in his/her sophomore or junior year in May when application is
made.
4. An associate student must be in his/her final year (application may be made at the end of the first
year).
5. An RN-to-BSN-completion student must have been accepted into a degree-completion program.
