Mary Ann Durant has been a registered nurse since
1983. She has healthcare experience in psychiatry, acute
care, community practice, and nursing education. She is
a graduate of the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing,
Pennsylvania State University, and American Sentinel
University. Currently an assistant professor of nursing
at Alvernia University, her teaching expertise focuses
on gerontology, community health, cultural competence,
professional writing, and current issues in healthcare. As
an active member and recording secretary of the Trans-
cultural Nursing Society Northeast Chapter and through
prior doctoral work, she continues to evolve innovative
teaching practices to educate novice learners in under-
standing culturally sensitive care.
