The Pennsylvania Dental Association Dental Identification Team (PADIT) is activated to the scene of the Executive Air crash at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport. Nineteen people died in this crash of a charter flight from Atlantic City. This call to action represented the third activation for PADIT since its formation. 2000 2001 2000 One of three planes hijacked in the terrorist attack on the United States, United Flight 93, crashes in Shanksville, Somerset County. On September 12 PADIT members were activated to the scene to identify the victims of the crash. 2001 The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) honors PADIT as one of the recipients of its Outstanding Achievement Award, recognizing PADIT’s activation and assistance with the identification of the victims of the Executive Air crash at the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre Airport on May 21, 2000.
