G ove r n men t Re lat ions elected state government and ensures the practice of dentistry is represented by legislators who will fight for the profession and for high quality dental care. PADPAC is a voluntary, non-profit group run by and for dentists. As a bipartisan PAC, PADPAC consists of dentists and their spouses from all over Pennsylvania who are dedicated to supporting legislators who value the profession of dentistry. PADPAC, operating under strict state and federal laws and regulations, is always watching the voting record of every member of the House and Senate. Working with the American Dental Political Action Committee (ADPAC), PADPAC promotes the highest quality dental health of Pennsylvania and our nation, while shaping the future of dentistry. In order to get SB 373 to become law PDA needs your hard dollar contributions. Please make a contribution today via your personal credit card or personal check. Due to state and federal laws, PDA categorizes PADPAC funds into two types. Hard dollars are contributions made via personal check or credit card. Only hard dollars may be used for political campaign contributions. Soft dollars are contributions made with a corporate check or credit card. Soft dollars may only be used for administrative purposes such as assisting district or local dental societies with a fundraising event. Showing your tangible support, via a contribution through PADPAC, goes a long way to show senators and representatives that you want them to succeed and they, in turn, will help us succeed. It is through hard dollars that your lobbyists, staff and members can meet legislators in settings that grow lasting relationships on PDA’s behalf. Your contribution helps PDA fight for you and your patients. We truly can’t do it without you. You may not be interested in politics but politics is very interested in you – and your practice. These issues will be decided and we want to be part of the decision making process so that we can participate collaboratively and not have terms dictated to us after the fact. Your hard dollar contribution enables us to be part of the process and make a decisive positive impact. We need to participate in the process from beginning to end so that you get the results you want rather than being upset because someone was involved and we were not. Your PAC contributions enable PDA to meet with elected officials before legislation is introduced, as it is introduced and throughout a bill’s journey through the General Assembly. This is our window to achieve victory for you, your fellow dentists and your patients. If we let this opportunity pass it is likely that we never get Assignment of Benefits in Pennsylvania. Please make a significant PADPAC contribution today. You are making the future you will live in right now with your decision to contribute or not. We have many fast and easy ways for you to make your PADPAC contribution. If you’d like to donate over the phone you can call or email John Basial at (800) 223-0016, ext. 108 or [email protected]. You can also contribute online by visiting padental.org/padpac. Perhaps easiest of all is making a PADPAC contribution when you pay your dues. Please make a PADPAC contribution today via your personal credit card or personal check. In NASCAR you must have gasoline to compete and win a race. In politics money is gasoline. PDA has to compete and win for you against the insurance lobby. They are always well funded and pursing their own self interest-aggressively. This is often to your disadvantage and the disadvantage of your patients. We need your contributions to share your side of the story so that elected officials hear the whole picture and not just a one-sided fable. If you contribute we can compete and win-for you. We need your contributions, political gasoline, to get SB 373 through the process and over the finish line. In politics you are either at the table or on the menu. If you make a contribution PDA can help set the legislative agenda table rather than merely being an appetizer in a legislative buffet. MARCH/AP RIL 2018 | P EN N SYLVAN IA DEN TAL JOURNAL 13
