Welcome To Anston and massive chunk of River Rother mist that decided to roll in first thing. Watching all the names roll in on the website is reward enough for me, well it has to be because there’s no way I’d ever win in a month of Sundays, last year I spent months practicing, it made little to no difference. This year I elect to shoot around with Mangers and he kindly offers the use of his gun. So, rather than put myself through all that torment again I’m just going to show up on the day and shoot for fun, seems like a fair swap for not winding myself up for months. All the big names have entered again this year so it’s going to be a good event at the top but PJBRC is also a fun day and I think the course always has that great mix of something for everyone, just enough lanes to sort the top boys out while we all busy ourselves removing the paint from the rest. Early on its pretty hard to work out who could win, last years winner Marc Fisher is on form, Bri Samson and Steve Privett are both World champs. Simon Ayers is coming up and Bri told me early on that springer shooters don’t have form, they just have good and bad days. I punt my £5 on John Amos, he’s been shooting well in the MFTA. John told me I should have bet on Marc but I keep the faith as I always like a punt on the outsider but I do believe he could do it, top bloke is John. So I’ve got Si to win, John as my outsider and Andy to beat Coop. Sounds good to me, Si is still giddy from Tondu so I reckon he can do it, he’s got the skills and if not he could talk a target down without the gun! Saturday is spent doing the final checks, there’s about 30 people in the woods helping out, everything is looking good, even the weather report looks very favourable but we all no how accurate they are, about the same as me on a 55yders! Time went nowhere and before I knew it, it was 4.30pm. Home to relax before the big day kicked off. I didn’t sleep much, so heading down to the club at 7am wasn’t much of a problem, it was a big day ahead but with all the Anston Massive out in force you know you’re in Watch your fingers lads, the mist comes in so we all hit the scran van for refreshments. safe hands, everyone does their bit and nothing is a problem, not sure why I was on edge. By 8am both sheds and the car park is packed, the place is buzzing. No problems in the stats so I get my marshals vest on and prepare for a great day with a brew and a massive bacon sandwich. About 8.30am the mist rolls in over Anston, the lads go and check the visibility on some of the longer targets, a call is made to delay the start by 20 minutes. I use this ti
