Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are one of the three macronutrients that make up a balanced diet, alongside protein and fat. Carbohydrates are found in most foods and are the body’ s preferred form of energy. Carbohydrates are separated into categories based on how quickly the body digests them. Complex carbohydrates have more fiber in them which helps food to be digested slowly and keep you feeling full for longer time. On the other hand, simple carbohydrates are digested much faster and have little amounts of fiber.
Low-Carb
Have very little amounts of carbs and also have fiber.
Complex / Combined Carbs
Have a bit higher amounts of carbs, but still provide good nutrition like fiber and various micronutrients.
Simple Carbs
Have higher amounts of carbs and little nutrition. It is best to limit these.
