DMN-WESTINGHOUSE has introduced the M-TDV multiport tube diverter valve, a compact solution designed to simplify pneumatic conveying systems by replacing complex arrangements of multiple two-way diverter valves. Capable of handling up to 14 routing positions within a single unit, the M-TDV enables efficient diversion of one conveying line to multiple destinations or convergence of multiple lines into a single outlet.
In a 1-to-14 configuration, a single M-TDV can replace up to 13 conventional two-way diverters. This significantly reduces the number of valves, actuators, control points, connections, and maintenance requirements, resulting in a simpler and more cost-effective system design.
The valve supports the principle of“ doing more with less.” By integrating multiple routing functions into one compact unit, it reduces equipment count, control complexity, installation effort, and plant footprint. For process engineers, this creates greater flexibility in plant layout while streamlining system operation.
The M-TDV also improves product handling. Traditional serial diverter arrangements can introduce multiple direction changes, increasing turbulence, wear, pressure loss, and the risk of product degradation. The M-TDV limits the conveying path to just two smooth bends through a single valve. Combined with precise port alignment and optimised internal geometry, this promotes gentle product flow and helps protect fragile powders and pellets during transport.
At the heart of the design is a rotating swan neck that directs material along the selected route. Exact alignment between the swan neck and valve ports ensures a smooth, uninterrupted flow path. A robust frame maintains alignment under full piping loads, while intelligent switching selects the shortest route to the required port. An encoder and alignment cylinder provide accurate positioning and secure port locking.
Maintenance has also been simplified. Electrical and pneumatic components are mounted externally for easy access and protection from product exposure. Seal replacement can be carried out without disconnecting pipework, helping minimise downtime. A built-in QR code provides direct access to installation, maintenance, and service information.
For hygienic applications, the M-TDV is available with FDAapproved white EPDM inflatable seals, stainless steel contact parts, EC1935 / 2004-related compliance, and USDA-accepted versions. ATEXcertified models are also available.
Suitable for conveying powders and pellets, the M-TDV is offered in sizes from 40 to 150 with configurations ranging from 4 to 14 ports, operating across temperatures from-20 ° C to + 100 ° C and pressures from-0.8 to 3.0 barg.
