High Speed, High Shear Hygienic mixing equipment from Silverson Machines
Silverson Machines has a vast product range, from Laboratory-scale mixers capable of mixing as little as 1ml, to large production-scale models, including hygienic and Ultra Hygienic mixing equipment specifically designed for Pharmaceutical applications. Scaling-up is a relatively simple process as all Silverson mixers are manufactured to the same precision engineered tolerances.
This year, Silverson Machines will be showcasing some of their mixers at CHEMUK on Stand G54.
Laboratory Mixers
The Silverson L5M-A model is now available with the body finished in white engineered polymer for increased durability and ease of maintenance. The updated radiused edges allow for easier cleaning. With its integral tachometer, ammeter and programmable timer, the L5M-A offers a level of instrumentation invaluable in applications where process validation and repeatability are required.
These mixers are ideal for small batches from 1ml up to 12 litres, and can mix in-line with flow rates up to 20 litres / minute using an In-Line mixing assembly, further increasing versatility.
Small-Scale In-Line Mixers

of shearing actions per revolution of the rotor, resulting in substantially faster mixing times and increasing the number of products that can be processed in a single pass.
The Multistage workhead also allows customers to configure the mixer to their individual requirements.
Powder / liquid Mixers
The FMX10 and larger FMX25 powder / liquid mixer will also be on the stand. The FMX10 was designed to bridge the gap between the laboratory scale FMX5 and the larger Flashmix product range. It provides a simple, effective and hygienic means of powder / liquid mixing on a small scale, with a batch size of up to
50 litres, depending on viscosity. Featuring the same pumping rotor design as the HV model, the FMX10 is able to process higher viscosity mixes, and the option of a high speed motor, capable of 9,000rpm, and Flameproof specification makes this model even more versatile.
Hygienic Bottom Entry Mixer Silverson’ s hygienic series of high shear Bottom Entry mixers are designed to fit into the bottom or side of a mixing vessel. These high shear mixers are typically used in conjunction with a slow speed anchor stirrer or scraper unit for high viscosity products.
