To meet our ambitious climate targets , businesses need to take the lead in advancing sustainable solutions . While global forums like COP29 have recently highlighted the urgency of these efforts , it ’ s at the industry level where tangible process can be made . Decarbonising energy systems , developing technologies for clean hydrogen , and transitioning to renewable energy require companies to go beyond their immediate goals and contribute to industry-wide progress .
It is integral that these values are the driving force behind any companies ’ commitment to tackling the technical challenges of the energy transition . Even incremental improvements , such as optimising the reliability and efficiency of components , can significantly improve the scalability of clean technologies . It is , therefore , paramount that the industry works together to set clear objectives and share knowledge , creating solutions that benefit everyone .
Collaboration in action John Crane ’ s partnership with the University of Sheffield underscores how industry and academia can work together to drive meaningful change . Through this multi-year initiative , we are funding PhD projects focused on advancing mechanical seals and ancillary equipment for high-pressure
