Introducing the Silverson FMX5 , a laboratory scale version of Silverson ’ s production scale powder / liquid mixer the Flashmix . The FMX5 operates on the same principle as its larger counterparts and provides an accurate and easy means of predicting the performance of the Flashmix in the laboratory , helping to streamline the scale-up process . The FMX5 has been tested on a wide range of powders , giving comparable results to the production scale Flashmix . These powders include gums ( CMC , Guar , Xanthan ), Carbopol , Bentonite and many others across a range of industries . The unit is suitable for small scale manufacturing and R & D work and is able to process higher viscosity mixes with a typical batch size of 10 litres .

With the new LW2720 radar level sensor from ifm electronic , accurately measuring the level of liquid media in large tanks and vessels is no longer a problem ; this innovative sensor has a measuring accuracy of ± 2 mm at ranges up to 10 m . In addition , it is fully certified for use in hygienic areas , making it an ideal choice for food and pharmaceutical applications , including those that involve CIP and SIP operations .
The ground-breaking LW2720 measures levels using an FMCW radar-based system operating at a frequency of 80 GHz . This provides stable and accurate non-contact measurements that are unaffected by changing pressure , temperature and the presence of steam or condensates . In addition , the 80GHz operating frequency of the sensors provides a very narrow beam angle that gives a reliable level measurement even in applications where agitators , stirrers and scrapers are present .

A welcome return
Southern Manufacturing and Electronics sprang into action in February 2022 , returning to the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre . From the doors opening on Tuesday 08 February , the aisles were packed with enthusiastic visitors and exhibitors , all eager to network and engage in the vibrant live event that sets the benchmark for the industry . Among the exhibitors were specialists in robotics and automation systems , demonstrations of injection moulding , tooling , rework and machining centres ; this is just a snapshot of the equipment on show and companies that took part .
Southern Manufacturing is scheduled to take place from 7-9 February 2023 at Farnborough International . Exhibition space is already 60 % booked : contact ETES now - there is no time to waste to secure a stand at the biggest manufacturing event in southern England .
