The MTC – training the next generation of engineering technicians
The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre ( AMTC ), on the Manufacturing Technology Centre campus at Ansty Park in Coventry , is trebling the number of apprentices it trains . The industry-leading centre , sponsored by Lloyds Bank , is to provide training for 300 high quality apprentices a year by 2020 . AMTC apprentices are trained though a mix of traditional skills complimented with modules of advanced manufacturing and are exactly what manufacturing industry is looking for to fill the high-tech jobs of the future . AMTC apprenticeships have the advantage of not being company or sector-specific , so the result is a fully-rounded apprentice capable of filling the most demanding of manufacturing and engineering positions . The apprentices are fully tutored in work behaviours and engineering basics , but are also exposed to the latest manufacturing technology .
