EDITOR’S CHOICE CONTROLLING HUMIDITY HUMIDITY SOLUTIONS KEEPING RH IN ITS PLACE Effective humidity control is a necessity for all work environments and is particularly important in many industrial environments, says John Barker of Humidity Solutions In any indoor environment, controlling humidity is essential for protecting the health of occupants and the building fabric. In an industrial environment, poor humidity control may also impact on productivity and profitability, so there are strong commercial reasons for taking control. In terms of measuring humidity, we use the term ‘relative humidity’ – or RH - to describe the relationship between the temperature of air and the amount of moisture it can hold. In most industrial environments the RH should be maintained between 40% and 60%. Humidity Solutions is the UK’s leading independent specialist in humidity control, designing, installing and maintaining humidification and dehumidification systems for a wide variety of industrial and commercial applications. The company is a distributor for humidifiers and dehumidifiers from some of the world’s leading manufacturers and, since April 2019, has been the exclusive UK distributor for the 32 PECM Issue 40 West Midland manufactured Vapac range of electrode boiler steam humidifiers. The strength of this range is reliability and return on investment, with user friendly accessibility and flexibility of installation. In- room and in-duct options allow the humidifier to be installed into almost every industrial and commercial application. Rob Luddington, Humidity Solutions’ After Sales Director stated ‘The number of Vapac units installed across the country is testament to the quality and to the ease of maintenance of the humidifier. Vapac is the industry word for electrode boilers and we have certainly found them to be reliable and a great unit for HVAC applications.’ Humidity Solutions provide their own service solution, or are happy to support contractors with technical advice, spares and new units. One of these is Independent Humidity Services, whose director Mick Lillywhite looks after and maintains many Vapac humidifiers on sites including Cumbria Constabulary and The Dean Gallery in Edinburgh. Mick stated ‘reliability is essential for my customers to ensure that the air that they are conditioning is kept within the specified parameters. For me the most important thing is the ease of maintenance and the Vapac units certainly tick both of these boxes.’ Humidity Solutions add the reliability of supply with a large stock of spares and units held in our warehouse in Leatherhead, plus technical support either for the design of a new system or assistance when advice may be required post sales. www.humiditysolutions.co.uk [email protected]
